John Foxx, Harold Budd, Ruben Garcia - When The City Stops For Snow

John Foxx (originally a member of Ultravox but who went on to have 10 very creative Top 100 synthpop hits in the UK as well as compose some startlingly beautiful minimalist/ambient music) is here teamed up for the third time with American minimalist Harold Budd (likely the best-known name in the genre since the 1960s), with some additional help from pianist Ruben Garcia. Together the three have produced Nighthawks, a beautiful album released in 2011 on Edsel records together with two previous Foxx/Budd collaborations (Translucence and Drift Music, both more melancholic works, both highly regarded since their release in 2003). They are available for purchase anywhere, but likely best through thequietman.co.uk, a site managed by the amiable Foxx himself. This is a track from Nighthawks. Perfect for a cup of closed-eyed tea.
