"Deutsches Mädel" Herms Niel, 1941

"German Girl", song at a trot composed in 1941 by Herms Niel (1888-1954), with lyrics by Dr. Hans Bußmann. Performed by the composer himself and his Band of the State Labour Service (from Potsdam), with male chorus (possibly Berlin Municipal Opera Choir). Recorded in Berlin, 1941, released in 1942.

Additional info: an optimistic song for women during the heavy, war period. It speaks about happier times to come, peace, sun shining and them happily laughing again. Song originally has three strophes; all recorded. This is a rare example of a song "at a trot" and its only known recording (trot-marches were usually composed for cavalry = horses, and they were instrumental pieces). Niel also composed music for another Hans Bußmann's song, tango "Der Mond scheint in mein Kämmerlein" (1936).

Note: mono recording, from I.Ž. 78rpm record collection; not to be used for commercial or propaganda purposes.
