Soul, a Booth-premiered record off Natalie "The Floacist" Stewart's forthcoming release, found the singer speaking out on a few lingering issues between herself and one-time collaborative partner Marsha Ambrosius, offering her own, previously-unheard account of the dynamics behind Floetry's breakup. Having said what needed to be said, however, she's done dwelling on the past; on the freshly-minted follow-up, she announces her intent to "Start Again and pick up the pieces," of the neo-soul movement. Nolan "Know-1 Special" Weekes once again mans the mixing boards, backing the artist's paean to evolution and forward momentum with mellow, jazzy guitar chords and a subtly driving rhythm section, and topping the record off with a radiant solo-sax outro. DMV R&B mainstay Raheem Devaughn, who co-wrote the song along with Stewart and Weekes, provides vocal support. Fans will be able to find this laid-back, yet upbeat selection and much more on Floetry Rebirth, scheduled to drop in November via Shanachie.
