In this video I cover and define gemstones. A gemstone is any rock or mineral that could be used for ornamentation or jewelry. Most minerals are cut and polished to bring out the natural beauty of the stone or rock. Even diamonds must be cut into their familiar faceted shapes to really sparkle. Once cut and polished a gemstone is used to create jewelry. Gemstones can also be categorized as precious and semi-precious stones.
