We made a rap music video about food idioms / phrases / expressions that are used frequently in everyday life.

このビデオで使った慣用句・フレーズ：

easy as pie / a piece of cake
直訳：パイほど簡単 / ケーキ一切れ
意味：とても簡単
例文：That test was (easy as pie / a piece of cake). [あのテストはとても簡単だった。]

couch potato
直訳：ソファー ポテト
意味：怠け者
例文：Stop being a couch potato and go play outside! [怠けてないで、外で遊んできなさい！]

drink like (a) fish
直訳：魚みたいに飲む
意味：酒を死ぬほど飲む
例文：All of my friends drink like fish! [友達は皆死ぬほど飲むんだよ！]

cup of tea
直訳：一杯のお茶
意味：自分のセンスに合うアクティビティー
例文：Korean BBQ while watching basketball? Now that’s my cup of tea. [焼肉しながらバスケの試合を見る？いいね～]

an apple a day keeps the doctor away
直訳：りんごを毎日一個食べると医者なんていらない
意味：医食同源
例文：（これはそのまま）

say cheese
直訳：チーズと言おう
意味： はい、チーズ！（日本語で言うのと同じ）
例文：Alright guys, freeze! …Say cheese! [皆準備はいいかな？じゃ、止まって。はい、チーズ！]

(put the) icing on the cake
直訳：アイシングでケーキを飾る
意味：さらに良くするための仕上げ
例文：I took her out to a nice restaurant and to put the icing on the cake, I brought her some flowers. [彼女を良いレストランに連れていっただけじゃなくて、更に花まで用意してたんだ。]

in a pickle
直訳：漬物の中にいる
意味：ピンチに陥った状態
例文：I helped her out because she was in a pickle. [ピンチにいる彼女を助けた。]

Sugarcoat (something)
直訳：砂糖でまぶす
意味：間接的にやんわりと言うこと
例文：She was sugarcoating it, but what she really meant was she doesn’t like you. [はっきりとは言ってなかったけど、彼女が本当に言いたかったのは、君の事が好きじゃないという事だよ。]

Two peas in a pod
直訳：さやの中にある二つの豆
意味：似ていていること（仲がいい）
例文：They have the same exact hobbies; they’re like two peas in a pod. [彼らは趣味が全く同じで、とても似ている（まるで兄弟みたいだ）]

Bread
直訳：パン
意味：お金（ヒップホップスラング）
例文：I don’t have that kind of bread! [そんな金ないよ！]
