Hustler - supporting Queen in 1974

Wow, what a fantastic thing to see this forty years later.
The year was 1974 and what a year it was! I was nineteen years old, with long curly hair and wearing tight bell bottom pants and playing drums in a band named Hustler.
Our first single, Get Out Of My House, had just been released and we were a hungry, cocky, cockney band with plenty to say, and we were offered to be the opening act for the new band on the block, Queen.
We were amazed, Queen were the talk of the town with the release of Seven Seas Of Rye, Killer Queen, Queen 2 and Sheer Heart Attack, and with Freddie Mercury ( surely one of the greatest, most beloved and respected front men ever) leading the way, we were so excited and scared at the same time, yet we were so totally committed heart and soul and we lived it.
I can only say, we were very young, brash and full of ourselves, and very, very lucky to have shared the stage with one of the world's seminal bands. God bless Freddie Mercury and Micky Llewellyn.
Sincerely,
Tony Beard
